Media & PR Update October 2024

Celebrating the launch of the 9 new Australian based travel guides, Lonely Planet hosted a fun and fact filled lunch at the legendary Bob Hawke’s Beer & Leisure Centre in Marrickville on August 20th with 35 guests including leading media and retail buyers.
Kicking off with a fun Aussie Trivia hosted by local drag queen, Minnie Cooper, the event also featured a panel of well-regarded Lonely Planet writers including Jessica Lockhart, Sarah Reid, Sudeshna Ghosh, and Max Veenhuyzen who shared their first-hand travel writing experiences and know-how.
The Australian suite event was a huge success, receiving vast media coverage across Australia and New Zealand. The new Australian travel guides have since been featured in popular online and print publications, as well as being reviewed by credible critics.
Travel Weekly wrote a spectacular review for the new guidebooks saying: “The refreshed format aligns with contemporary travelling options.” The new Australia, Tasmania and West Coast Australia guidebooks were included in the July and August issue of Rex Airlines inflight magazine.

“Lonely Planet is championing a new look and focus on the way we travel with their new suite of Australian guides,” The New Zealand Herald wrote in both their online and print publications. Books & Publishing also gave a comprehensive review of Lonely Planet’s new Australian Suite in their August issue.
Great Australian Outdoors featured the guidebooks in their August edition of their magazine. In their review, they praised the new format, saying:
The books took social media by storm over the past month, with attendees of the event taking to social media to share their experience. Mr and Mrs Romance shared the books to their 10.8K followers, as well as on their blog. Great Australian Outdoors (1.6K), Katie Mayor (1.7K), and Travel Now World (1.8K) are other notable social accounts that posted about the event.
