Italy is preparing for its 2025 summer tourism boom, as it expects to welcome 35 million visitors in 2025, nearly tripling the 13 million seen in 2024. This increase in tourism is not only being fuelled by Italy’s historic cities and beautiful beaches, but also by the celebration of the Jubilee year in Rome and Vatican City. The event is due to attract millions of pilgrims for the celebration.

Visitors who are set to visit Rome can expect big crowds and highly priced accommodation, so forward planning is advised. As for the rest of Italy, this might be the perfect year to swerve the big-hitters and explore more off the beaten track destinations, such as the region of Veneto or Genoa.
